Situating at the north of Kathmandu, Langtang valley and Ganja La Pass, offers a multitude of trekking destinations.Having a slightly lower range of snowy peaks at the southern part, Langtang valley lies just below the main Himalayan range to the north Tibet Border. An exquisite panorama can be viewed at the Langtang valley and it also offers an opportunity to explore Tibetan villages, Tamang Villages, to climb small peaks and to visit glaciers at comfortably low elevations. Kyanjin Gompa is a last Tibetan village in the valley, from where a trek starts to Helambu over Ganja La Pass (5,200 m). The pass is quite flinty. As the weather favors during autumn and spring, the pass are opened for trekkers.
Adventurous trek can be experienced over Ganja La Pass which offers wilderness too. During the time of spring trekking, the forest on the trail is colorful and blooming full of rhododendrons. A well experienced and qualified guide is required to pass Ganja La Pass as it is a serious undertaking while passing from Langtang into Helambu. As there are shortage of facilities for three or four days, groups with their staff must be fully self-sufficient. Good preparation and skilled along with technical climbing equipment is required for the trekkers. The trail follows a small valley before reaching the glaciated pass where the use of ropes, crampons and ice axes may be necessary.
