About Langtang Ganja La Trek

The Langtang Valley Trek is a classic Nepal trek that unfolds in Langtang National Park, home to 14 different types of vegetation and a whopping 18 different ecosystems. You walk among Rhododendron and Nepalese alder before ascending into breathtaking old-growth forests of silver fir, hemlock, and larch. If you are lucky, you may spy a rare red panda, Himalayan black bear, or any of the 250 bird species present along the trek. If you are searching for trek that combines all of these elements, the Langtang Valley Trek is hard to beat.
The Langtang Valley Trek also introduces you to the culturally significant ethnic Tamang communities, some of the most affected by the devastating 2015 earthquake, and the largest Tibeto-Burman ethnic group in Nepal. For those interested in Buddhism, varied scenery, and moderate trekking, this trek shouldn’t be missed.
Our walk begins from SyapruBesi, only 14-ish kilometers south of the Nepal-Tibet border. As we proceed up the valley, we are accompanied by the LangtangKhola, the aqua-colored glacially-fed river that defines the valley floor.
During our walk, we pass through a number of villages, two of which are widely considered to be the most culturally influential in the valley: Langtang and Kyanjin, the latter the home to the important KyanjinGompa (3,830m). This is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery located at the foot of LangtangLirung (7,234m), the highest peak in the national park and on this trek.
