Itinerary

Your Tibet adventure begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks, including Everest on clear days. Upon arrival at Lhasa Gonggar Airport, you will be greeted by your English-speaking Tibetan guide and transferred to your hotel in Lhasa city.

The remainder of the day is reserved for rest and acclimatization to the high altitude. You can take a gentle walk around the hotel area or enjoy Tibetan butter tea at a nearby café. Avoid strenuous activity to allow your body to adjust comfortably to the thin air.

Begin your exploration of Lhasa with a visit to the Potala Palace, the former winter residence of the Dalai Lama and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Marvel at its grand architecture, richly decorated chapels, and panoramic views of the city from its hilltop location.

After lunch, head to the Jokhang Temple, the spiritual heart of Tibet, where pilgrims from across the region come to offer prayers. Walk along the Barkhor Street circuit surrounding the temple, experiencing the vibrant atmosphere, local markets, and traditional Tibetan culture.

Morning: Drepung Monastery

Explore Drepung Monastery, once the largest monastery in the world, home to thousands of monks. Visit its prayer halls, chapels, and the Ganden Palace, learning about Tibetan monastic life and history. Enjoy panoramic views of the Lhasa valley from the monastery grounds.

Afternoon: Sera Monastery

After lunch, visit Sera Monastery, renowned for its lively monk debating sessions held in the courtyard. Observe this fascinating tradition, which trains monks in logic and Buddhist philosophy through energetic debates.

Depart Lhasa after breakfast and begin your scenic drive toward Gyantse, crossing high mountain passes and passing through traditional Tibetan villages.

Highlight: Yamdrok Lake

Stop at Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet’s three sacred lakes, famous for its stunning turquoise waters surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Take photos and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this spiritual and natural landmark.

Continue your journey through valleys and pastures until reaching Gyantse, a historical town known for its charming streets and Gyantse Kumbum, a unique multi-tiered stupa. Overnight stay in Gyantse.

After breakfast, explore Gyantse, beginning with the Palcho Monastery and its famous Kumbum Stupa, known for its unique multi-level structure and intricate Buddhist murals. Stroll through the old Dzong (fortress) area for panoramic views of the town and surrounding valley.

Afterward, drive to Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city and a key cultural and religious center. Upon arrival, visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, the historic seat of the Panchen Lama, to admire its giant bronze statues, colorful murals, and impressive courtyards.

Start early for an adventurous drive toward the Everest Base Camp (EBC), passing through high-altitude Tibetan villages, vast plateaus, and mountain passes.

Rongbuk Monastery Stop

Visit Rongbuk Monastery (5,000 m), the highest monastery in the world, set against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Everest and surrounding peaks.
