Itinerary
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Kande, a small village nestled in the Annapurna foothills. From here, you start your trek, passing through terraced fields, dense rhododendron and pine forests, and traditional Gurung villages. The trail gradually ascends with spectacular views of the Annapurna massif setting the stage for your adventure.
Reaching Australian Camp by afternoon, you’ll find a cozy teahouse nestled amidst alpine meadows with breathtaking views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail). The fresh mountain air and tranquil surroundings provide the perfect introduction to your Himalayan trek.
Today’s trek continues through lush forests rich with rhododendron, oak, and pine trees. The trail undulates gently along ridges and streams, offering a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by nature. You will encounter friendly local villagers and gain insight into their traditional way of life.
Doban, a small settlement with comfortable lodges, welcomes you with stunning views of the Annapurna range. The afternoon is ideal for relaxing, soaking in the natural beauty, and preparing for the days ahead.
As you progress, the trail climbs steadily through mixed forests and open meadows, with ever-improving views of the snow-capped peaks. The trek becomes more serene as you approach Deurali, a quiet village tucked away in the hills.
Deurali offers a perfect base to enjoy the tranquility of the mountains, with panoramic views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. The lodge accommodations provide a cozy retreat after a rewarding day on the trail.
This is the highlight day of the trek, as you ascend to the Australian Base Camp itself. The trail becomes steeper, passing through alpine vegetation and rocky terrain. Along the way, you'll witness breathtaking views of the Annapurna massif, including Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre.
Reaching the base camp, you’ll be surrounded by the grandeur of towering peaks and pristine natural beauty. The peaceful atmosphere at the camp offers an incredible sense of achievement and a memorable experience before you begin your descent.
Retracing your steps, you descend through the forested slopes back to Doban. The downhill trek is easier but still filled with stunning scenery, including rhododendron forests and glimpses of distant mountain vistas.
This day provides time to reflect on the journey so far and enjoy the serenity of the Annapurna foothills. Doban’s warm lodges offer a comfortable place to rest and rejuvenate.
The final trekking day takes you downhill from Doban to Kande through terraced fields and traditional villages. Upon reaching Kande, your vehicle will be waiting to drive you back to Pokhara.
Arriving in Pokhara, you’ll have the rest of the day at leisure to explore the lakeside city or simply relax after a rewarding trek in one of Nepal’s most beautiful regions.
