Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by your Bhutanese guide and transferred to Thimphu, the capital city. The drive is a scenic introduction to Bhutan, following the Paro River through lush valleys, terraced fields, and traditional villages. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and pine forests, with small hamlets adding charm to the journey.
Upon reaching Thimphu, check in at your hotel and take some time to relax. In the afternoon, begin your city tour, visiting the National Memorial Chorten, a symbol of peace and devotion, and the Buddha Dordenma, a massive golden statue overlooking Thimphu Valley. Conclude the day with a stroll through Thimphu’s local markets, where you can explore handicrafts, souvenirs, and experience the vibrant yet serene Bhutanese atmosphere.

After breakfast at your hotel, begin a full Thimphu sightseeing tour. Start with the majestic Tashichho Dzong, a fortress-monastery that houses the central government and the monastic body. Its impressive architecture, painted wooden galleries, and courtyards reflect Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage.
Next, visit the Folk Heritage Museum, which showcases traditional Bhutanese rural life, followed by the School of Traditional Arts (Zorig Chusum), where students learn Bhutan’s 13 traditional crafts. After a cultural morning, enjoy lunch in Thimphu before driving back to Paro Valley in the afternoon.
Upon arrival in Paro, explore Rinpung Dzong (Paro Dzong), a historic fortress with beautiful courtyards and intricate artwork. After breakfast at your hotel in Paro, drive to the base of the trail leading to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), Bhutan’s most iconic and sacred site. The hike begins through pine forests decorated with fluttering prayer flags. Along the way, enjoy viewpoints offering breathtaking panoramas of the monastery perched dramatically on a cliff 900 meters above the valley floor.
Reach the monastery and explore its serene courtyards and meditation halls, where Guru Padmasambhava is believed to have meditated in the 8th century. After soaking in the spiritual ambiance and stunning vistas, descend back to the trailhead. Return to Paro town for lunch, followed by some free time to explore local markets or relax at your hotel.
