The 6 Days Bhutan Tour is designed for travelers who want a deeper and more immersive experience of Bhutan’s culture, landscapes, and spiritual heritage. Known as the Land of the Thunder Dragon, Bhutan is a country where ancient traditions harmoniously blend with breathtaking natural beauty and warm hospitality.
This extended tour covers the capital Thimphu, the historic Paro Valley, the iconic Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), and additional destinations such as Punakha Valley, Wangdue Phodrang, or Haa Valley, allowing you to explore Bhutan’s diverse regions.
Throughout the six days, travelers will enjoy scenic drives through valleys and mountains, explore majestic dzongs and monasteries, experience local markets, and undertake a moderate hike to Tiger’s Nest. This itinerary offers a balanced mix of culture, nature, spirituality, and adventure, giving a comprehensive introduction to the charm of Bhutan.
Itinerary
You will arrive at Paro in spectacular mountain flights. The scenic mountain flight is a great experience and offers a fantastic start to our trip. You will get picked up by our representative and transferred to a hotel in Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.
After breakfast, we visit the spectacular Trashichhoe dzong, a beautiful fortress in the center of Thimpu. The Trashichhoe dzong houses the Government’s office and King’s Throne room as well as the summer residence of Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot.
We visit the National Library exploring Buddhist texts and manuscripts from ancient times. The Arts & Crafts School exhibits various thangka paintings. The intricate design of cloth is a fantastic art form.
We take a break to have lunch and then visit the Handicrafts Emporium, where we can find the beautifully handwoven and crafted products. A short drive will lead us to the Memorial Chorten is a stupa built by the Third King of Bhutan.
The third king of Bhutan is also known as the “Father of modern Bhutan.” The statues and paintings provide incredible insight into the Buddhist philosophy. You will stay overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.
After breakfast, we drive to Punakha, passing through the stunning Dochula pass (3,080m). We rest and observe the beautiful view along with the Chorten, mani wall, and prayer flags.
On a clear day, we can observe the snow-capped mountains of Masagang (7158m), Kangphugang (7170m), Jejegangphugang (7158m), Tsendagang (6960m), Terigang (7060m), Zongphugang (7060m), and Gangkar puensum which is the highest mountain peak in Bhutan at 7,497m.
Our next destination is Punakha Dzong, built strategically at the junction of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers in 1637. The dzong is an integral part of bhutan’s history and served as the religious and administrative centre of the region. Damaged by four catastrophic fires and an earthquake, the dzong has now been fully restored.
We drive to Wangduephodrang, where we visit the dzong and local market. Wangduephodrang is famous for bamboo products, slate, and stone carvings. You will stay overnight at the hotel in Punakha.
After breakfast, we drive to Paro passing through the beautiful Simtokha Dzong built-in 1627. The fortress is the oldest in the Kingdom, and it has a school that teaches religious studies.
In the Afternoon in Paro, we will visit Ta Dzong, the National Museum of the Kingdom. The old watchtower has been a National Museum of the country since 1967. It holds of Bhutan’s finest art, artifacts, postage stamps, and thangka paintings.
We then make our way to the Rinpung Dzong. Built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal (first temporal ruler) in 1646, the dzong has the office of the Dzongda. Besides that it also house the office of district administrative head, the monastic body of Paro, and Thrimpon (judge) of Paro. You will stay overnight at a hotel in Paro.
After breakfast, we drive to Drukgyel Dzong in the north of Paro. The fort helped to defeat many Tibetan armies in the past. We then make our way to a Farm House to experience the lifestyle of traditional Bhutanese people.
We hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, the famous Bhutanese monastery all over the world. According to popular belief, Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery. Hence, the name “Tiger’s Nest monastery” came into prominence.
The stunning hike takes us above 900 m in just 2 hours. We return to Paro valley to visit the Kyichu Lhakhang, which is one of the most sacred shrines of the Kingdom. You will stay overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Our representative will pick you up from the hotel and take you to the airport for flight, to move forward on your journey.
