This extended tour covers the capital Thimphu, the historic Paro Valley, the iconic Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), and additional scenic destinations such as Punakha Valley, Wangdue Phodrang, Phobjikha Valley, or Haa Valley. Travelers will experience the diversity of Bhutan’s regions, from lush valleys and rivers to high mountain passes and sacred monasteries.

During the eight days, you will enjoy scenic drives, cultural and spiritual sightseeing, local market visits, and moderate hiking. This itinerary provides a perfect balance of adventure, culture, and relaxation, allowing travelers to experience Bhutan’s heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant traditions at a comfortable pace.

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be welcomed by your Bhutanese guide and transferred to Thimphu, the capital city. The drive is scenic, following the Paro River through pine forests, terraced fields, and traditional villages, providing your first glimpse of Bhutan’s serene landscapes.

Upon reaching Thimphu, check in at your hotel and take some time to relax. In the afternoon, visit National Memorial Chorten, built in honor of Bhutan’s third king, and the Buddha Dordenma, a massive golden statue overlooking Thimphu Valley. Conclude the day with a stroll through Thimphu’s local market, where you can browse handicrafts and experience the city’s peaceful atmosphere. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your hotel in Thimphu.

The capital city of Bhutan, Thimphu, is a relaxed and laid-back city. With only a population of 90,000 and the city has a quaint charm of its own. You will take a 15-minute walk from the hotel to visit the Memorial Chorten.

It is a shrine built in the memory of the late king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Bhutanese people come here to pray and get auspicious names for their newborns. You will visit the Nunnery and the Changangkha Lhakhang(temple) on the outskirts of Thimphu.

You will also visit the visit to the Tashichho Dzong, which is Bhutan’s administrative and religious centre. You will stay overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.

After breakfast, we drive to Punakha, the traditional capital of Bhutan. We pass through DochuLa Pass (10,000ft/3,048m) where we can observe the eastern Himalayas, including Gangkar Punsum (24,770ft/7,550m) which is the highest mountain in Bhutan.

The pass-through forests and then to cultivated farmlands before arriving at Punakha valley. We continue driving to Wangdiphodrang. We find a massive fortress built in the shape of a sleeping bull. The road then leads us to Pele La Pass (11,152ft) from where we can observe the snow-capped mountains, including the sacred mountains of Mt. Chomolhari.

We have our lunch at Chendebji Chorten (Stupa) patterned after Swayambhunath in Kathmandu. After lunch, we resume our drive on the east-west road to Trongsa. At Trongsa, you can explore the traditional courtyard of historical Trongsa Dzong.

The impressive dzong is the largest in Bhutan. The palace is the traditional palace of the royal family of Bhutan. You will stay overnight at a hotel in Trongsa.

After breakfast, we drive across the Yutong La (11,234m) and descend towards Chumey, one of the four Bumthang valleys. We will visit the summer residence palace of the king, and then hike towards the Prakar monastery. We hike for about 15 minutes to visit a Colourful wool weaving center.

We will then drive to Jakar the centre of Bumthang valleys. Bumthang valley is a sacred valley with many legends regarding the place. The royal family trace their ancestry back to the place where many of the royal members get cremated. They are also related to the famous saint called Pema Lingpa, who was a smith in Jakar.

The Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey temple, fruit and beer factory, and the swiss farm area, are the major attractions of the place. We drive for about 2 hours 30 minutes hours to arrive Bumthang. You will stay overnight at a hotel Bumthang.

After breakfast, we drive to Punakha(1400 m). We visit the beautiful Punakha Dzong and hike to the temple of divine madman, “Chimi Lhakhang”. According to the popular beliefs, The lama subdued the demoness of the Dochu la with his magic thunderbolt of wisdom.

You can observe the wooden effigy of lama’s thunderbolt preserved in the Lhakhang. Childless women take a wang (blessing) from the saint in the temple. The temple is a 20-minute walk across the rice fields from Sopsokha. The rice field trail leads us to the tiny settlement of Pana. The temple has numerous rows of prayer wheels and beautiful slate carvings. We will stay overnight at a hotel in Punakha

After breakfast, we drive towards the west side of Dochula pass (3080 m) enjoying the Himalaya peaks above 7000 m. We arrive at Paro after a drive of 2 hours. We visit the famous Rinpung Dzong and stroll around the city in the evening. We will stay overnight at a Hotel.

After breakfast, we sightsee the beautiful city of Paro. We hike the Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang) and visit the rural lifestyle in the Farm House.

We also visit the National Museum which was previously an ancient watchtower. The museum consists of an excellent collection of ancient Thangka painting we will stay overnight at a Hotel.

After breakfast, our representative will pick you up from the hotel and transfer you to the airport. You can then board a flight to your desired destination.
