Nepal is a trekker’s paradise. There are dozens of trekking routes all over Nepal, ranging from easy to extremely difficult. Mardi Himal trek is a hidden treasure that has been a choice of very few trekkers over the years. It is a peaceful trekking path with very few trekkers along the way.

Campers trekked the Mardi Himal unofficially for a long time. The trek route was officially opened in 2011. Many tea and guest houses have since opened, providing comfortable yet basic facilities. It is an overlooked trekking route in Nepal that offers stunning views of the Annapurna region, Machhapuchhre Himal, and Himchuli. Mardi Himal is located at the east of the famous Annapurna Base Camp. The trek is relatively short and comfortable as compared to other trekking routes in Nepal. The trail moves along the ridge and gradually ascents with the highest elevation of 4500m at the Mardi Himal Base Camp. Mardi Himal trek is one of the least travelled trekking routes in Nepal. It is also a low trekking path with the maximum elevation being 4500m.

Itinerary

Drive to Kande, then Trek to Pitam Deurali 1 hr drive and 4 - 5 hr trek Our trek begins from Pokhara.You will meet the guide at 8.30 am on the morning of the hike.The private vehicle will take you on a drive to Kande in about one hour. Fro Kande, we will begin our trek to Pitam Deurali. The walk through the stone paved way leads us to the forested pathway, reaching Australian Base Camp, which takes about one and a half hours. We will walk three to four hours to Pitam Deurali.

After breakfast at Pitam Deurali, we will proceed on our trail.The peaceful way of the beautiful forest leads us to Kokar(Forest Camp), where we will have lunch. Our trip does not end here.We walk upwards through the stonepaved pathway on the rhododendron forests, reaching Low Camp. We will rest for some time at Low Camp and trek ahead to get to Badal Danda. From Badal Danda, we can see the clouds floating below us.

Today, we will have a short trek to High Camp.The hike to the High Camp offers stunning views of the Annapurna South, Mt. Fishtail, and many more mountain peaks. We rest and have lunch at High Camp. In the evening, we will hike for a while, which helps in acclimatizing the body

We get up early at 4 am and hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp.We get the headlight and trekking poles and begin our hike. It starts to rise the sun at the top of the mountain peaks until we reach the Mardi Himal Viewpoint(4200m).

The option is available depedning on the groups ablity to walk to the Mardi Himal Base Camp(4500m.), We spend some time at the view point/MBC and then retrace our way to the High Camp.We will get our bags and start to descend, following the trail to Low Camp.

From Low Camp, we will walk downhill for three hours to Sidhing.There is a rare chance to meet other trekkers or locals while walking along the forest path. We can see some newly opened tea houses along the way before reaching Sidhing. We get to the private vehicle and drive to Pokhara, where our trek 5 Days Mardi Himal Trek comes to an end.
