The trek begins with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Birethanti, the starting point of the Annapurna region trails. Birethanti is a small riverside village where trekkers check permits and prepare for their journey. From here, the trail follows the Modi Khola River, passing through lush forests, traditional villages, and terraced farmland, offering glimpses of local rural life.

The trek steadily ascends toward Ulleri, famous for its long staircase of stone steps. The climb can be challenging, but it is rewarding as you pass through dense rhododendron and oak forests, with occasional waterfalls and streams along the way. Upon reaching Ulleri, you’ll find charming lodges that provide comfortable accommodation and warm meals. The evening is ideal for resting and acclimatizing before the longer climb to Ghorepani the next day.

Today’s trek is the most challenging part of the journey, but it rewards trekkers with incredible scenery. From Ulleri, the trail ascends steadily through dense rhododendron and oak forests, offering a vibrant natural setting in spring when flowers are in full bloom. You’ll pass small streams, waterfalls, and local villages where you can observe traditional Gurung and Magar culture.

Reaching Ghorepani, you’ll be greeted by a picturesque village surrounded by majestic Himalayan peaks. Lodges in Ghorepani are cozy, providing a warm place to rest and enjoy local cuisine. The evening is perfect for relaxing and preparing for the early morning hike to Poon Hill, the highlight of the trek.

The day begins very early with a sunrise hike to Poon Hill (3,210m).
