The Tibet Overland Tour offers travelers a unique opportunity to explore the cultural, spiritual, and natural wonders of the Roof of the World via an overland journey from Nepal or within Tibet. This adventure combines scenic drives across the high-altitude Tibetan plateau, visits to ancient monasteries, and immersive experiences in Tibetan towns and villages.

The tour highlights major destinations such as Lhasa, Gyantse, Shigatse, and sometimes Mount Everest Base Camp, providing a blend of cultural discovery, historic landmarks, and breathtaking landscapes. Travelers will witness iconic sites like the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery, and enjoy views of snow-capped mountains, turquoise lakes, and vast grasslands.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Kathmandu (1,300) -Kerung Border (145 Km) 06-07 hours drive.

Early in the morning scenic drive to Kerung Border (Nepal-Tibet Border) through the beautiful Nepalese countryside and after necessary border formalities at Nepalese immigration, an hour adventurous uphill drive by Bus & Van (normally) or 2 hour walks uphill (in case of landslide to Chinese immigration, check-in to hotel or Continue drive to Kerung. Stay overnight at Guest House.

Day 2 : Kerung - Tingri (4,300m) / Lhatse (4,350m): 225 Km/244 Km

Day drive uphill to the highest plateau of the world with the typical view of Tibetan landscape offering sheer feeling of standing on the roof of the world. from where, weather permitting, breathtaking panorama of beautiful Himalayan ranges including Mt Cho Oyu (8201 M) & Mt Xishapagma (8,012M) but dwarfed by the Vastness of the Tibetan plateau. From TINGRI, one can enjoy the magnificence of Mt. Everest (8,848 M). Stay overnight at Guest House

Day 3 : Tingri/Lhaste - Xigatse (3,900 M): 244 Km.

Continue scenic drive crossing Over Gyatchu La (5,220M), the highest pass en route to Lhasa via Lhatse from where a road to Mt Kailash bifurcates to the west. Stay overnight at Yak hotel.

Day 4 : Xigatse - Gyantse (3,950m): 90 Km.

Morning sightseeing to the Panchen Lama's Tashilhumpu Monastery. Drive to Gyantse and visit to the Kumbum Stupa & Phalkor Monastery. Stay overnight the Hotel.

Day 5 : Gyantse - Lhasa (3,650m): 261 Km.

Full day picturesque drive crossing over Karola (5,010m), Kambala (4,749m), Colorful Yamdrok-Tso Lake and the Tibetan lifeline river Brahma Putra (Yarlung Tsangpo) – Stay overnight at Flora Hotel.

Day 6 : Sightseeing In Lhasa. Visit the sacred Jokhang Temple, explore the bustling Barkhor Bazaar, and admire the iconic Potala Palace.

Day 7 : Sightseeing In Lhasa.

Discover the spiritual heritage of Drepung Monastery and witness the lively monk debates at Sera Monastery, then return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 8 : Lhasa - Kathmandu.

Early morning drive to Gonggar airport or train station for your departure flight to Kathmandu or to your onward destination to Mainland China.
