Itinerary
The trek begins with a scenic drive from Pokhara to the beautiful hill village of Dhampus, which offers stunning views of the Annapurna range and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail). From Dhampus, the trail gradually descends and passes through small villages, terraced fields, and lush forests. Along the way, trekkers can enjoy the peaceful rural landscape and traditional lifestyle of the local communities. After several hours of trekking through picturesque surroundings, you reach the charming Gurung village of Landruk, where you stay overnight and enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery.
After breakfast, the trek continues from Landruk along a scenic trail with impressive views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. The path passes through forests, suspension bridges, and small settlements before gradually climbing toward Chhomrong, one of the largest and most beautiful villages in the Annapurna region. Chhomrong is known for its traditional Gurung culture and its incredible panoramic views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre. Upon arrival, trekkers can relax and enjoy the peaceful mountain atmosphere before preparing for the next stage of the journey toward Annapurna Base Camp.
After breakfast, the trek begins with a descent down stone steps to the Chhomrong Khola, followed by a steady climb up to Sinuwa village. From here, the trail enters a beautiful forest of bamboo and rhododendron, creating a peaceful and shaded walking path. The route continues through small stops such as Bamboo and Dovan, following the Modi Khola valley deeper into the Annapurna Sanctuary. Along the way, trekkers can enjoy the calm natural surroundings and occasional glimpses of the surrounding peaks before reaching Upper Dovan for an overnight stay.
Today’s trek gradually ascends through a narrow valley surrounded by towering cliffs and alpine scenery. The trail passes through Himalaya and Deurali before entering a more open landscape as the forest slowly disappears and the terrain becomes rocky and dramatic. As you move higher, the views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) become more impressive. After several hours of trekking, you arrive at Machhapuchhre Base Camp, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding snow-covered peaks and experience the unique high-mountain atmosphere.
Early in the morning, the trek continues toward Annapurna Base Camp, the main highlight of the journey. The trail gently climbs across the wide glacial valley until you reach ABC at 4,130 meters. Here, trekkers are rewarded with an unforgettable sunrise view surrounded by a spectacular amphitheater of Himalayan peaks, including Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre. After spending some time enjoying the scenery and taking photos, the trek begins the descent back down the valley, returning to Upper Dovan for the night.
Today the trail retraces the route back through the bamboo and rhododendron forests, passing villages such as Bamboo and Sinuwa before climbing back to Chhomrong. From there, trekkers may continue down to Jhinu Danda, a peaceful village known for its natural hot springs beside the Modi Khola. After several days of trekking, relaxing in the warm hot springs can be a perfect way to unwind while enjoying the tranquil surroundings of the valley.
On the final day, the trek continues with a short walk to the road access point, passing through small villages and scenic farmland along the way. After reaching the road, a drive takes you back to Pokhara, where the trek officially concludes. Once back in the city, trekkers can relax by the lakeside and reflect on the unforgettable journey through the Annapurna region.
