The Gosaikunda Trek is a spiritually enriching journey into the heart of the Langtang region, designed for those seeking sacred beauty, cultural encounters, and Himalayan panoramas without venturing into high-risk altitudes. This 9-day adventure leads you through rhododendron forests, Tamang villages, and eventually to the shimmering alpine lakes of Gosaikunda—believed to be created by Lord Shiva himself.

The journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche, the district headquarters of Rasuwa. The route winds along the Trishuli River, passing through terraced fields, small towns, and lush hillsides with views of distant snow-capped peaks.

Once you reach Dhunche, you’ll feel the crisp mountain air and get your first taste of the Langtang region's natural charm. This tranquil village is the perfect place to rest, acclimatize, and prepare for the days of trekking ahead.

Today’s trek begins with a gradual ascent through pine and rhododendron forests, offering occasional glimpses of Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal. You’ll pass through Deurali and enjoy lunch along the route before continuing towards Chandanbari.

Chandanbari, also known as Sing Gompa, is home to a small monastery and a local cheese factory where you can sample yak cheese. The peaceful setting and mountain backdrop create a serene atmosphere for an overnight stay.

The trail today is short but steep in sections as you ascend to Lauribina. The trek offers breathtaking views of the Langtang and Ganesh Himal ranges along the ridge. Keep an eye out for Himalayan monals and red pandas in the forested areas.

Upon reaching Lauribina, you’ll enjoy spectacular panoramas and a quiet, elevated location perfect for acclimatization. The lodge here offers stunning sunset views over the Himalayan skyline.

The trek to Gosaikunda is one of the most spiritual and scenic parts of the journey. As you ascend past rugged landscapes and alpine meadows, you'll pass several small lakes before reaching the sacred Gosaikunda.

Gosaikunda Lake, revered by both Hindus and Buddhists, is believed to have been created by Lord Shiva. The turquoise lake nestled among rocky peaks is deeply spiritual and breathtakingly beautiful, making this a truly unforgettable experience.

Today is a rest day to help with acclimatization and to explore the surrounding lakes and viewpoints. You can hike around the adjoining lakes like Saraswati Kunda and Bhairav Kunda or take a short climb to viewpoints offering expansive views of the Langtang and Manaslu ranges.

Use this peaceful day to absorb the spiritual energy of the site, interact with other pilgrims, and enjoy the tranquility of the high Himalayas. The silence and stillness here are both humbling and rejuvenating.

Highest Altitude: 4,610 m / 15,125 ft (Laurebina La Pass)

Today’s trek is the most challenging and rewarding of the entire route. You'll cross Laurebina La Pass (4,610 m), the highest point of the trek, offering mesmerizing views of Langtang Lirung and surrounding peaks.

After crossing the pass, descend through rocky trails and alpine terrain to reach Ghopte, a peaceful resting point nestled in the forest. It’s a long day but one that truly showcases the dramatic contrasts of Himalayan geography.

Accommodation: Lodge in Kutumsang

The trail from Ghopte to Kutumsang leads through lush forests, ridgelines, and occasional meadows dotted with small villages. You’ll pass through Thadepati, a popular scenic spot, and continue descending toward Kutumsang.

Kutumsang is a charming village that offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with the local Tamang culture. You'll find traditional homes, welcoming smiles, and hearty food to relax and refuel for the journey ahead.

Highest Altitude: 2,230 m / 7,316 ft
Accommodation: Lodge in Chisapani

Today's trail meanders along scenic ridges, forests, and pasturelands, gradually leading toward Chisapani. The views of Annapurna, Manaslu, Langtang, and even Everest (on clear days) make this one of the most panoramic segments of the trek.

Chisapani is the final overnight stop and is a popular viewpoint, especially for sunrise and sunset. The fresh mountain air and panoramic Himalayan views make it the perfect farewell to your trekking adventure.

On your final day, descend through Shivapuri National Park, home to a variety of flora, fauna, and chirping birds. The trail gently drops to Sundarijal where your vehicle will be waiting.

From Sundarijal, drive back to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel. After days in the peaceful mountains, the city buzz will feel both familiar and new. You return with memories of sacred lakes, Himalayan vistas, and cultural richness.
