Trip Information

If you want to witness the breathtaking sunrise and sunset at Sarangkot, you should plan your time accordingly. The two main spots to visit are the viewpoint and the summit. At the viewpoint, you can see the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks, while the summit offers a 360-degree view that is around 50 meters away from the observation deck. It takes about 5-10 minutes to walk to the deck, and the stairs are in good condition. The observation deck is situated at an altitude of about 1,400 meters above sea level.

If you’re up for a three-hour hiking trip, Naudada village in the Annapurna region could be another destination worth considering. It’s a hillside area with typical settlements and wonderful views. You can experience the local way of life and get a homely feeling by interacting with the people there. Naudanda is situated at an altitude of 1,600 meters, offering stunning views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, the Annapurna range, and Machhapuchhare, making it a classic Himalayan landscape, especially on a clear morning. You can also view the Pokhara valley and Phewa Lake towards the south. The scenery from this viewpoint is spectacular. After completing the hike, you will return to the starting point, have some packed snacks, and be driven back to your respective hotels.

Itinerary

At 7:30 AM, you will be picked up from your hotel and driven for approximately 15 minutes to the Kaharaya area. At 7:45 AM, we will commence our hike towards the hilltop of Sarangkot. This steep ascent to the top of Sarangkot may take around 2-3 hours. During our hike, we will pass through a predominantly traditional housing area and have the opportunity to experience rural life. We recommend that you savor the experience rather than focus on the uphill climb.

By 10-11 AM, we will arrive at the summit of Sarangkot Hilltop, where we will enjoy lunch while taking in the spectacular views from the Bhiyangang Restaurant. This period is not only for lunch but also to behold the Himalayas and the vast green valleys to the North, East, and South. From Sarangkot, you will witness several peaks of the Annapurna Himalayan Range and Dhaulagiri Range, including the highest peak, Dhaulagiri I, which stands at 8,167 meters. Other prominent peaks that can be seen include Annapurna I, II, and III, Annapurna South, Himchuli, Nilgiri, Gangapurna, Himal Chuli, Lamjung Peak, and the iconic Fishtail Mountains. The views are not limited to these peaks, as the deep valleys, lush green forests, cultivated lands, traditional houses, and hills below add to the stunning landscape visible from Sarangkot.

At 12:15 PM, after our break on the top of Sarangkot, we will start our descent towards Pokhara, following an alternative trail along the eastern ridge towards BindaBasani Temple and Lovely Hill. This Sarangkot hiking trail offers a circular experience even in a single-day hike around Pokhara.

By 3:15 PM, after hiking for approximately 2 to 3 hours, we will arrive at the town of Pokhara, near Bindabashaini Temple, which is a powerful temple of the Hindu Goddess Durga. If you are interested, we can visit the temple before taking a taxi ride back to your hotel.

At 4:00 PM, we will drop you off at your hotel, concluding our Sarangkot Hiking excursion with best wishes.
